Integrating Chemistry, Pharmacy and Plant Pathology

Prior to my move to Viçosa, back in 2012, I began interacting with research groups (leaders) of the Pharmacy (Prof. Fuentefria) and Chemistry (Prof. Schrekker) Departments at UFRGS. I was co-advising a doctoral student (Aicha Ribas) on her study on the search for alternatives to standard chemical fungicides for plant disease control.

Project report and publications: seed-borne inoculum for rice brown spot

Finally, after two years we ended a multi-institutional project entitled “Epidemiological basis for risk management and tolerance thresholds of Bipolaris oryzae in rice produced in Rio Grande do Sul state”, which was funded by a specific call for studying the impact of seed-borne pathogens (CNPq Edital 422009), we got a few papers published in both scientific journals and technical magazines.
